A Broken heart

I write this blog from a bit of a broken heart. I just found out that a young man(family friend) that use to go to our church tried to commit suicide.  We follow each other on face book and I see all kind of hurts and pains with every post. I knew recently he had broken up with his girlfriend. So his heart has been obviously heavy and broken.

We all are broken people. Every single one of us. We all suffer differently, some more than the next. Some take heartaches harder than others. I know this young man has struggled with his walk with the Lord as well. So I am praying God intervenes!!

Not to be selfish but, I reflect on my own life. My own hurts and pains. Very similar to many. Yet, I have Jesus. I get down. I might lose hope for just a bit, but I know I can get back up. I think, “how selfish of me to think I have it bad”… I have Jesus.

I truly do not know how to express my feeling right now. I just felt I had to blog this out.

Friends, we all hurt. We all need love. We all want love. We want to feel loved. And when we do not have love we get torn down. Broken. We feel abandoned. Alone. We get desperate. Hopeless. We listen to the lies of the enemy. We think we are worthless. We feel all kinds of things. Then we give in.

If you know someone who is like this…hug them. Reach out and pray with them. Do something with them or for them. They need it.

That is how we get when we do not have Christ. Maybe we go through SOME of that. But we feel the sweet whispers of the Holy Spirit. Hope fills us. He speaks to us to pray. To read His word. To listen to music. To phone a godly friend. Our head is lifted up.

WE need to offer hope. Show love. I can not stress this enough. Stop looking at ourselves. Start paying attention to people. There souls matter. Tell them God loves them. Tell them you love them.

Hand out or Hand up?

Should the government help the those in need? This is really a question for the church.

I find that it has been helpful. The government has helped us out personally(food stamps etc) but because the government has helped so many, so many in this country have depended on the government.

Here is where it might sting a bit…CHURCH…WE are to be helping with meeting the needs of the people. Remember the verses

And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful.” Titus 3:14 .

Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.” Ephesians 4:28

Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.” Matthew 5:42

Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” Philippians 2:3-4

Yet, we in the church have lived above our means. We can not even spare extra to give to those in need. We struggle to give tithes or even to missions or to offerings. I am guilty of this too. We live pay check to paycheck. That is not how it is suppose to be. We are to have wisdom with the money we have. We are to be thinking of others as well. After all, that is what Jesus was all about. He met the needs of the people.

We are to help, as in such a way, to minister to others as well. As we help them financially  and even physically, we then can in turn help them spiritually. Every way pointing to Christ. Now I know we are to help those in the church first. But, we are to help those outside the church too.  Always bringing glory to God and leading them to Him. That of course should be our goal  as a christian.

Not that they should take advantage of us. But, to help them out. Give them wisdom in how to do better that they to can turn around and help others. My father does this very thing. He has helped those who could not get a job. He had men who were struggling because of past mistakes. He taught them how to work on a house remodel. As he taught them skills, he would share the word of God with them. So he would help them spiritually as well. We know that when we help someone spiritually their whole perspective and outlook on life changes. They better themselves. Not them, but the relationship they have with the Lord betters them.

This is exactly what Jesus did. He would meet the needs of the people and in turn they would know Him better. Follow Him. Serve the Lord and help others. If Jesus did this we ought to also.

However, the government, has taken it upon themselves to fulfill what the church should be doing. People get in debt, and are not bettered in any way. Generation after generation depending on the government and not teaching their children to do better, to try better. The government would rather keep the individual always coming back. The government doesn’t care about the individual as a person. As long as they keep depending on the government they have control over their lives.

However, we the church, we are suppose to care. To lift another up. to point someone intot eh right direction. That is why the church needs to step up and help people. We don’t just give them a  hand out, But a hand up. It is they way of the Lord to meet the need and make them better.

“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” James 1:27

So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:10

“But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.” 1 John 3:17-18

“”The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.‘” Matthew 25:40

Church wake up and be doers not just hearer only. Do the Work that God has called us to do. Helping those in need. Not just in monetary need but, in spiritual need as well. That is the heart of Christ.

Raw and unedited: i have a confession.

i share this not for you to judge me. but to say i struggle too.

i had an addiction. it was something so strong i could not get it out of my system.(i still struggle with it today) i needed everyday. from the moment i rose in the morning to the time i laid my head to rest. i needed it so badly. it was in every part of my life. i fed off of it. i craved it when i did not have it. it made me feel so good. when i took a hold of it it seemed to make everything better. nothing could compare to it. I. LOVED. IT! my addiction….Chocolate covered caramel with salted chunks (ok ok i am kidding i am not really addicted to it. and i didn’t have it everyday. )

but there are things we are addicted too. from tv to social media to a person or drugs. things that make us “feel” better. why do we run to those things? because we have not experienced Jesus!

to have an encounter with the most High God, i know we would never turn back to the things of this world.

this sounds extreme of me does it not!? anyone who knows me, knows I am a pretty held together person. so to admit I had an addiction would probably seem unfathomable. we all have things that we keep hidden as well. Things we would be mortified if someone knew. Secret sins. i’m not here to say i’m perfect. and i’m not here to confess my sins to you the reader. but, i am here to say..YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

we are all struggling with things. i have cried so much this last year about so many things that i should have just taken to God and allowed Him to handle it. but i kept it to myself and to one other. i should have poured it all out before the living God. giving Him all my cares and concerns first. all those times i have cried at night before bed, all those lonely moments, all those frustration, pains and hurts…i should have went directly to God.

see i knew this was what i was suppose to do. i knew the right thing to do and i didn’t do it.

i am here to tell you my friend….TAKE IT TO GOD!!! F I R S T!!!!!

i am having to retrain my self to do that. yes a person who has been in ministry and a christian for  years…i slipped and i have to retrain myself to give it to God first.

see God never stopped talking to me. i heard him. i just kept ignoring. i know what God has called me to do. i know what talents he has given me. and as part of the healing process i share this with you through the talent he has given me.

will i ever get over this thing that i went through? right now it is difficult to see. i’ve cried everyday this week. but…i too must…

you are not alone. God loves you. He loves me. but we must give it to God no matter how bad, how sad, how frustrated you may be.
