Those who are reading my blogs… I appreciate you very much.  I know I don’t always have comments open.. Bc I write them on my phone.. I forget to make them open to that.  I’ll try to fix ASAP.

Also,  I’m rusty at writing.  My grammar and spelling… Not so good sometimes.  I’m trying to catch all my mistskes… But I do miss some.  Oops.

And I try very hard to give the right credits.  I want to be accurate too.

However,  some teachings I hold to will offend some.. I know.

But I hold to them.  And some.. No matter how much we can debate.. I will still hold to them.

Stubborness?  Maybe.  Or conviction.. Or.. It is because I feel the Lord has spoken and has convinced me.

Some blogs are random.  Some are serious.  Some are thoughts and opinions.  Some political.  Some are poems.

My thoughts,  I hope,  will challenge,  encourage,  inspire,  and give hope.  Along with , hopefully,  making you smile and laugh.. Either at me or with me.  I guess it doesn’t really matter since I am letting all see. And I’m allowing you to criticize and challenge me.
Just wanted to share my thought process with you all.

The Ocean and the Ship

The ocean and the ship.

They can not be without each other.

They were made for one another.
Golden sunrises and warm breezes.

Dreamy sunsets and diamond skies

The moon shine

One moment at a time.
Storms have come and gone.

They say, “come what may”

And they survive.
She longs for him.

He is moved by her.

They are inseparable.

Forever together.  Always
The ocean and the ship.

This season has me like…

Are you like me?

This time of year,  I tend to get more emotional.  Not because I’m depressed,  but because I am more aware or sensitive to the meaning of the season.

The love that is shared during this time.  At least that is what I have experienced.  I know so many don’t.  Which makes it tug at my heart strings more.  The things they are missing out on. A season of hope and love needs to be shared to all.  No matter what, sharing the Love that came down for us all.

Anytime I hear the Christmas hymns and carols that talk about Christ I lose it. I don’t ho crazy but I tear up.  I feel His presence.  I’m moved.  God is so good.

Silent night,  O Holy Night,  O Come Emmanuel just to name a few, that always turns this heart to mush.  The words are so powerful.

Take time this season and read through these songs.  Meditate on the message through out the song.  As a Christian,  I don’t know how you can not be moved.

Think what the Lord left for you and I. He humbled himself, because His love for us is so great! To be born not in a kingly way…as he deserved.  But to be born to a humble couple, with a stable for his nursery.  A crowd of the powerful and elite did not come to celebrate the night of his birth but, lowly shepard’s.  To be born knowing that he would die on our behalf.
What a loving God he is,  that he would do that for me.

Just breath

If you are like me,  you have already started to get a little frazzled. Thanksgiving is over and now the next one… CHRISTMAS!

Don’t get me wrong,  I keep Jesus the center.  But,  the hussel and bustle of running around.  Being Involved in church activities,  visiting with family, friends coming over,  Christmas parties,  school events …then to top it off …buying presents.

Presents. A thing I struggle with each year.  Thankfully, I have family and friends who appreciate their gifts even when it’s homemade goodies.

But,  if I didn’t keep God the focus each year… I.  Would.  Go.  Crazy!!

I know so many do.

Friends…. Just breath.  Bring everything back into perspective. Remember Christ.

Tips: when buying gifts..don’t buy the most expensive things. Keep things simple.  Most people really do like gifts that are from the heart.  And if they don’t.. Then there are deeper issues there…That you don’t need to stress over.

Remember when getting gifts for your kids.. Three gifts were what Jesus received.  You don’t have to buy a lot.

With all the things that are going…

Don’t forget to breath.

There is nothing worth getting all worked up over.  Remember the reason for the season.

He.. Is what it’s all about anyways.

Satisfaction  Guaranteed

In a world…

McDonald’s,  Burker King,  Hardees,  Wendy’s… So many choices.

Walmart,  Target,  J. C. Pennys, Kohl’s… So many choices.

CNN,  Fox,  MSNBC, so many choices.

Chocolate,  vanilla,  strawberry, then all the countless mix and matches… So many choices.

So I’m not going to go on. I bet you can see where I’m going?  So many things to choose from.  If we don’t like one price. We can change.  If we don’t like service we can change.  If we don’t like a flavor,  a person,  a place ,   a… Whatever.. We can change our minds and pick something more satisfying.

No wonder our nation begs for a leader to satisfy their needs.  Because we can barely make up our own mind.  We are not ever satisfied with what we have.

I think of the generation before us. They were satisfied with just a potato for a meal. Yet, we struggle every night to choose which kind of vegetables to pick, which meat to pull out the freezer, which kind of dessert to finish up the meal.  We are so blessed.  Yet,  we are not satisfied with what we have.

As Thanksgiving meal and black Friday sales are wrapping up. I have been thinking how greedy we all are.  How selfish and stubborn!  (Not all of us). We once were a nation that cared about other people. (Now some do). But, it seems, lately things just keep getting worse and worse. People hurting each other over an item. People not really being thankful for the meal that they had the day before.

No one seems satisfied.  They want more,  better,  something different.

We need to learn to be satisfied with what we have.  See with different eyes. If something were to happen in this country , I’m not sure many could survive it.

Truly,  this country really needs God.  We need to be content in Him. Only He satisfies. Seek Him while He can be found.

“But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.” 1Timothy 6-8

Being thankful even when…

We all go through trials.  We all go through sickness in the family.  We all lose someone we love dearly.  We all get frustrated,  hurt,  taken advantage of,  lied to,  hated and attacked.  But through it all…

God never leaves us.

He always loves us.  He show compassion,  mercy and forgiveness.  He gives us joy unspeakable.  He gives us hope.  He protects.  He provides.  He comforts.

So no matter what you are going through always give Thanks to God.

True Community Begins With One Guy — Pursuing Glory

It seems kind of obvious. But it’s not. Most people are hungry for community. They want to be accepted. They want to be loved. They want to be supported. They want to feel like they are part of something bigger than themselves. But if you look at any successful community, you will find one brave […]

Faith like that

Elijah.  What a man of faith.  One of my favorite stories from old testament is the one where Elijah calls fire down from heaven.  (1 Kings 18) He had such faith in God showing up. The altar was soaked with water.  He prayed and God came through.  Fire fell.  Everything was burnt.  The water was gone!

Recently I attended a funeral of a family member. As I sat there listening to the preacher talk about Lazarus being raised from the dead, I begin to think about what faith I could have. Faith that I could stand up,walk to this family member and in the name of Jesus tell her to “come forth”.

But,  I sat there.  I know there is more to it. More in timing of the Lord,  purpose.. Etc. But,  to have faith that God would come through.

Do we have faith like that as Christians?

We struggle from day to day wondering how our bills will get paid. We struggle with wondering where our next meal might be. We don’t trust in the Living God that made the Heaven and the Earth. Every time I pray I want more of God. I pray that my faith increases.

If Christians would walk in this kind of faith perhaps more people would know the Lord. Perhaps more people would be on fire for the Lord. Perhaps more people would not be going to hell. Perhaps more people would be healed.

These are just some things that I have been thinking about lately.

Lord increase my faith!

The False Teacher

What makes a false teacher?( Below are points taken from Galatians 5:7-12 commentary by InterVarsity Press. )

  • false teachers distract Christians from obeying the truth of the gospel
  • false teachers replace the call of God with their own deceptive persuasiveness
  • false teachers gain control over the whole church
  • false teachers cause confusion and discouragement
  • false teachers spread false reports about spiritual leaders

How often have we accused a brother of being a false teacher. When in a reality they may have misinterpreted a teaching or they were taught a teaching incorrectly. We do need to be careful who we are accusing to be a false teacher or not.

Recently I have seen those close to me accuse others of being false teachers. After studying what exactly these people said, I have come to conclude that the “supposed” false teacher was teaching a topic incorrectly. Because everything else they preached was sound.

Even though it was sound, they were still teaching one or two things incorrectly. To be honest, that will put me on guard. How am I to know if their future teachings will be correct or not? I once had about half of my family get wrapped up in a teaching that started out sound then turned cultist. So, I know very well about this particular thing. I am always cautious now. That is why we need to be alert and know Gods word for ourselves.

How many teachers of Gods word have taught something and led a person to a sinners hell because they taught incorrectly? That is why scripture holds a teacher at a higher accountability.

Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness. For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body” James 3:1-2

We are all in a learning process. Even the greatest of spiritual leaders still struggle at times. And that is not blasphemous to say. After all NO ONE is perfect.

I know some have issues with prosperity gospel and spiritual gifts teachings. Two big topics that many find to be false teachings and those who teach them are considered by to be “False teachers”. But, perhaps they have misinterpreted scripture? Those particular teachings have nothing to do with a persons salvation. Or how to get to heaven. Yet, so many call those teachers heretics and blasphemers, etc. for teaching these things. (well, in my opinion, it is blasphemous if  you deny the work of the Holy Spirit..but another blog for that..sorry)

We have to see what else they are teaching. Does it line up with scripture? Are they teaching Jesus crucified, died and resurrected for our sins? That Jesus is the ONLY way to salvation?  That is what Paul taught,

For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough. ” 2 Corinthians 11:4

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:6-9

In today’s age, it is very easy to google anything. Knowledge is so accessible. So no one should ever say “i don’t know”. Literally everything is at our fingertips. No excuse. (providing you don’t live in a third world country or a country that controls information and or internet) So if you do not understand a teaching..google it, or ask a godly person(pastor, professor, etc)

Friends, the truth is if we study Gods word for ourselves, like we should, we will not be easily swayed. If we seek God and ask him for clarity on a passage or story or what He(GOD) meant…guess what? He will give you clarity! We will know the truth. We will be able to correct that brother in his misinterpretation of scripture.

If we are walking in the Spirit, and/or we are a leader/teacher, then we will not have problems with teaching sound doctrine/theology.

One last thing…

I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. 18 For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites,[f] and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive. 19 For your obedience is known to all, so that I rejoice over you, but I want you to be wise as to what is good and innocent as to what is evil. 20 The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.” Romans 16:17-20

Hand out or Hand up?

Should the government help the those in need? This is really a question for the church.

I find that it has been helpful. The government has helped us out personally(food stamps etc) but because the government has helped so many, so many in this country have depended on the government.

Here is where it might sting a bit…CHURCH…WE are to be helping with meeting the needs of the people. Remember the verses

And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful.” Titus 3:14 .

Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.” Ephesians 4:28

Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.” Matthew 5:42

Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” Philippians 2:3-4

Yet, we in the church have lived above our means. We can not even spare extra to give to those in need. We struggle to give tithes or even to missions or to offerings. I am guilty of this too. We live pay check to paycheck. That is not how it is suppose to be. We are to have wisdom with the money we have. We are to be thinking of others as well. After all, that is what Jesus was all about. He met the needs of the people.

We are to help, as in such a way, to minister to others as well. As we help them financially  and even physically, we then can in turn help them spiritually. Every way pointing to Christ. Now I know we are to help those in the church first. But, we are to help those outside the church too.  Always bringing glory to God and leading them to Him. That of course should be our goal  as a christian.

Not that they should take advantage of us. But, to help them out. Give them wisdom in how to do better that they to can turn around and help others. My father does this very thing. He has helped those who could not get a job. He had men who were struggling because of past mistakes. He taught them how to work on a house remodel. As he taught them skills, he would share the word of God with them. So he would help them spiritually as well. We know that when we help someone spiritually their whole perspective and outlook on life changes. They better themselves. Not them, but the relationship they have with the Lord betters them.

This is exactly what Jesus did. He would meet the needs of the people and in turn they would know Him better. Follow Him. Serve the Lord and help others. If Jesus did this we ought to also.

However, the government, has taken it upon themselves to fulfill what the church should be doing. People get in debt, and are not bettered in any way. Generation after generation depending on the government and not teaching their children to do better, to try better. The government would rather keep the individual always coming back. The government doesn’t care about the individual as a person. As long as they keep depending on the government they have control over their lives.

However, we the church, we are suppose to care. To lift another up. to point someone intot eh right direction. That is why the church needs to step up and help people. We don’t just give them a  hand out, But a hand up. It is they way of the Lord to meet the need and make them better.

“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” James 1:27

So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:10

“But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.” 1 John 3:17-18

“”The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.‘” Matthew 25:40

Church wake up and be doers not just hearer only. Do the Work that God has called us to do. Helping those in need. Not just in monetary need but, in spiritual need as well. That is the heart of Christ.
