No really do it. Show that skin. NO one will look at you and think impure thoughts. No one will be led astray and envy you. You dressing that way is A-Ok!
It has bugged me forever! Partially because of jealousy.(If I am going to be honest.) Because they have the fit body to show off..I know you can judge me on that. Though I do not feel so low about myself anymore. I know my identity is in Christ. But, to see a “Christian” lady wearing clothes so tight, so low, so short that it leaves no room for imagination! Come on?! Really!? Do you read the scripture!? DO you want to lead you brother in the Lord to stumble? Yes, you know guys are like that..they are going to check you out. Leading them to lust sister. And in these days.. leading other women to stumble too.
There I said it!
I am a lady, so I can say these things. Though I am sure that there will be some who will like to give me a piece of their mind. And if you do, then you need to examine your walk with God.(stepping on toes)
Part of being a Girls Ministry Coordinator, is to teach young girls and young women how to be godly remodels in this world and how to walk in the ways of the Lord. Our guidelines are only from Gods Word. Sure, this applies to young girls and older women as well! So do not think this doesn’t apply to you.
Ok on a purely random divergent from this to lighten the mood… I give you this…
I like big Bibles (click for funny song) A guy that we should want in our lives will love us for our relationship with Jesus not what we are wearing. (the point of this song)
But in all seriousness there is a reason we are to not dress like that.
Do not be like the world.
Why we want to dress like the world? Why we want to be like them? They should want to be like us. They want what we have and that is Jesus. We are to always be pointing to Jesus. We are separate from them. We are to be a light to them. BUT, we can not if we are being like them. Dressing like them. Acting like them.
Don’t tell me “I’m still a baby christian”, “I’m working on it”
Come on. You know now that it is not appropriate to dress like that. So Do Not Do It!
This is not new
It is interesting though…ever since Israel left Egypt they still wanted to be like them. God told them don’t.He said that because He was showing them that He is all they needed. Not the approval of man. Just Love from God and God only.
Riddle me this?
Ask yourself..Why do I dress like this? To get attention? Get noticed. To “look good”? You can look good without showing so much. Just saying.
Remember what happened to Egypt? They are no longer the “power” they once were. Yet, still today we modern Christians are trying to be like the “Egyptians”. We want to dress like them, act like them, be them… God is saying again, “I AM all you need. Do not look to man or his approval”
Do not lead another to stumble.
So here is the deal. Even our dress can lead one to stumble. “It is not my fault that he is thinking that way.” Well, yes it actually is. You have been used to tempt another. We are to be our brothers keeper. Did you know that?
Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. Romans 14:13
This verse is talking about accountability to our brothers and sister in Christ. Whatever it may be, we have to be careful to not let our actions cause another to stumble. We just have to be aware. And since we may not know it is better to live as scripture teaches. Just in case our actions may cause one to stumble.
Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble. 1 Corinthians 8:13
Now this verse goes into specifics on how we could cause one to stumble. This is talking about eating things. But it can apply to many things. Our actions when seen by the world or even a weaker or immature christian, baby christian, can cause one to stumble. God is all about “thinking of others” above ourselves.
So, you want to wear that shirt that shows that you are a girl. But sister, that shirt is too tight and too low cut. You want to lead a man who is struggling in pornography to really look at you and sin? That is not thinking of others.
I understand we may not know who is struggling. But should we still lead someone to lust after us? NO! I am not saying this as a “holier than thou” person. I have struggled in the past with wanting to wear the things of this world. But, in reading scripture I have learned that this is not appropriate. Nor godly thinking.
A verse we have our girls memorize in our girls ministry club is this:
We teach them that if it is not one of these, then you have to recheck your attitude, your thinking, your speaking, your actions, and your dress. This is a great guide for any in any situation.
If you are struggling with things on this matter please feel free to comment. I would gladly try to shed more light.
