I Need You

There is a lot going through my mind right now. Just a little scared about things. I know even those that appear to be strong still have moments where they are …scared. We like to put on a brave face, and those who know us well can see past the mask. True friends.

But, I know God is with me. WE can not let trials or situations overwhelm us. I know it is easier said then done. No matter what we are going through we still must trust in God. He has a plan for us. We are never alone as long as we have Him and as long as we have each other.

We need to lift one another up. Pray for one another. LOVE ONE ANOTHER. BECAUSE, we are all going through similar things. Heartaches, pains, troubles, trials etc. God places each one of us in each others lives for a reason.

We are to build one another up, Pray for each other, challenge (iron sharpens iron kind of way) each other, etc. Some trials we go through seem more difficult than others. To know we have a friend that can physically hug on us or touch us and pray, means the world.

I know we have Jesus. He never leaves us. Just like a child (no matter what age) wants their mom to be there when they have a boo boo or at their side in the hospital during surgery..we want to have those special people in our lives through whatever the trial is. Whether there physically in the room, or over the phone checking in on you, or a simple text saying “I love you and I’m praying”…we need each other.

I am not ashamed to say, “I need you!”

Recently, I had my gall bladder removed. My father was the first one in the room. He kissed my forehead. That made me feel ten times better. Then my mom came in and she leaned over to hug me. She said that they would have to leave soon. I said “please don’t go yet.” She knew I needed her.

To have someone that knows you well, that knows that you need them at that moment and are more than willing to stay with you through that time of trial…gives you a sense of peace and comfort as you go through that trial. It seems to help you over come that situation you are going through, faster.

And How does that make us feel? Loved! Cared about.

God made us that way.

He made us for community and companionship. Friendships. Look how many angels He has with Him. Not that He needs them. But He understand that we need each other.

If I didn’t have the people in my life that I have now, I know I would be in a sad-sorry state. Even now as I am going through another trial, these special individuals in my life, are there for me. Checking in on me. Loving on me and praying for me. That is what the true family of God is about.

I need you and you need me.

So if you know someone going through something…be there for them. Love on them. Pray with them. Visit with them. It will mean more than you could possibly ever know.

Don’t Give UP

Why is it when we are faced with difficult situations we want to think the worse? We think God has abandoned us. We say, “I can’t hear God anymore” Friend, He has not left you.

Pick up that bible and you will see you are not alone in this thinking. Elijah felt it when he was being chased down by Jezebel (1 Kings 19) READ IT! Here is a man who called fire down from heaven! And now he wishes he was dead. Think about the story of Jonah. He hears from God. A prophet who HEARS from God, and even in the end of his story, who wishes he were dead..(for a stupid reason mind you) Then there is David who often felt that God abandoned him. And even Jesus on the cross says this.

It isn’t that God leaves us. But, maybe the reason for Gods silence is we do things that may hinder his presence. SIN. So therefore, we are not in the right relationship that we once were. That is why we must repent of our sins.  Sometimes, repenting, even of sins that we  didn’t even realize we committed.(Leviticus 5:16-18)

Okay so some of you may not be sinning..maybe you are praying for a healing. And you ask, “God why are you not intervening? do you hear me?” That silence can be deafening. I know because I have a daughter with Spina Bifidia.  We may pray and pray for the healing but it never happens. Does that mean God doesn’t hear us or that he doesn’t heal people today? NO! His plans are higher than ours. He has reasons for answering and not answering. He is sovereign after all.

I was reminded recently of the story in the New Testament where James was in prison and going to be executed. The people prayed hard I am sure. But he was never released and he was executed. Now Peter and Paul on many occasions were put in prison, beaten..etc..and people prayed for their deliverance and God answered. God has reason for staying silent in some situations and answering in others. The point is…we can’t give up.

Whether we hear Him answer or not…WE CAN NOT GIVE UP! Perhaps He is teaching us to trust in Him. (Lets be honest…He is always teaching us that)Maybe He wants our faith to grow stronger. Maybe he has plans that will impact many. Or plans that may touch just one soul.

How often have we been to funeral and we were unaware of one person responding to God that day? Such a sad time…but that loved ones death may have helped bring a lost soul to the Lord.

Maybe our faithfulness in the lord through our struggle will impact someones life. They too will see how God is with us and can be with them through what ever struggle we go through. Often times I see families with children who are worse off than my daughter. And yet, they seem to keep the faith and always have a smile. I know it is because they have God in their life. Which makes my story not so bad anymore. If they have the Lord through their struggle surely HE IS WITH ME through mine.

We like to give up, give in, cry a little, let people ride the sob train with us. But, we are not alone. God IS with us. He is always there with a plan. We just have to trust Him. I know it is difficult at times. But, when we get down we have to force ourselves to Turn to Him, Worship Him, Dig into our Word. Don’t put yourself around people who will bring you down. The family of God is to lift you up. They are the ones that we must turn to for help and strength.

(This is a great song. If i copied it in right…listen) I hear this song and I can almost hear it is God singing it over me. He loves us. He is our light in our darkest times. So…Don’t Give Up

You are loved (Dont give up)

Thoughts from the sleepless

IMG_20160807_090927It has been a crazy week for me. I had my gallbladder taken out last week. And the last few days I have been recovering. In my recovering state… I have not been sleeping well. That means , I am thinking a lot.

So here are my thoughts from the sleepless…

This last Sunday, four days after my surgery, I went to church. My family and I go early because we help with the sound system during worship practice (hence the pic of the soundboard).

In our rush, I didn’t eat anything with the medicine I took for pain. Needless to say, I was feeling very Nauseous.

My husband went back to get get crackers from the church kitchen.(I apologize to the church staff for telling the world this next part)

Being very hungry and not wanting to throw up, I devoured the first few crackers. They were so good! All because of the salt(deception). After a few more I realized…they were stale crackers!

It got me thinking about sin.

Sin is deceptive. It will seem good at first then…you taste the nasty bitter flavor of death! In fact, we think we need it. But ultimately.. It is not good for us. It will get us ” sick”spiritually. It will send us to hell if we are un-repentive.

So next time you are “needing” something to fulfill you or satisfy your hunger …(read the label) check Gods word first. Reevaluate “that thing” you are chasing after. It will prevent you from “getting sick”  and having bad taste in your mouth

Always run to God

Only He satisfies!

LGBTQ: my thoughts

L G B T Q

We see it everywhere. If you do not know what it is yet it stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer.

As a christian, often times we read those letters as they come across twitter, facebook, the news, etc and ….cringe. I am being blunt. I know many who literally cringe. Why? Because those who read their bible (Gods word) know what God says about those who “lie with man as a woman lies with man” (Leviticus 18:22, 20:13, Romans 1:26-27, Jude 1:7) THIS IS NOT AN ATTACK BLOG. For that is not how to win anyone over to the Lord. But I gave the verses to clarify that there is scripture about it. Nevertheless, we move on.

Just a note: Sin….is sin. No matter if done in secret or done out loud. No matter if it is stealing or killing. Sin is sin. All sins are equal in Gods eyes

Though we do not see it that way…that IS how He sees it.

The other day I read that a local church is fighting the state over transgender bathrooms being put in their church. The state was trying to pass a law that churches MUST allow transgender bathrooms. As I chatted back an forth with my friend about this we both came to the conclusion: complying could give the church an opportunity to witness to this community.

Isn’t that the heart of Christ after all? To find whatever way possible to reach a community for the Lord?

The questions we should ask is, “How can I reach the unreachable? How can I love the unlovable?”

This subject over the bathrooms, I know is controversial. As a Christian, and as an American Christian, we feel that the government is telling us how to do things in church and that is not “constitutional.” And many  feel, that by allowing them in we are condoning their sin?

How many other people come into our church that are without sin? (Think about that!)

No! We are allowing them to come into our church to hear truth! To have the Holy Spirit speak to them about needing a Savior. That is our purpose. To lead others to Christ and help them Grow. No matter what life style they live. No matter what sin they hide or flaunt.

Church, our purpose is to worship God and bring Him glory all while leading others to the Lord. If we have that in mind then we are in right relationship with the Lord and doing the will of the Father. Then, when situations like this arise in our nation, we can respond with the heart of Christ. And maybe…just maybe we could show the world how they need Him by His love that flows through us to them.

The LGBTQ’s soul matters more then anything else. Let us show love to them. Let us show Christ love.

John 13:34-35(ESV)

34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

multitasking: one foot in the world

A while back there was a study done on whether or not a person can do two things at once. Sure this sounds a bit deceptive because we all know we can walk and breath at the same time. But what this study was proving was if one could concentrate on two things at once. for further information you can follow this link(provided I correctly inserted it)

http://brainrules.blogspot.com/2008/03/brain-cannot-multitask_16.html

The point I am trying to make is: Can a christian be lukewarm?

We hear it preached from the pulpit that we are either hot or cold and NOT lukewarm. Why? Because we can not SERVE two masters. Again, we ask, “Why?” because in serving two masters one is confused on a teaching or which one is right. Paul touches on this a little bit:

“10I appeal to you, brothers,a by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment. 11For it has been reported to me by Chloe’s people that there is quarreling among you, my brothers. 12What I mean is that each one of you says, “I follow Paul,” or “I follow Apollos,” or “I follow Cephas,” or “I follow Christ.” 13Is Christ divided?..” 1 Corinthians 1:10-12

Though this is a little off track of my main point, it is telling us that we must follow one and only one. I think the same is true when we bounce from church to church. We can easily get confused on what each church is teaching. Find one and stick to it. Be dedicated to its teaching if it so lines up with the word of God and what you believe.

So going back to the two masters, when we follow one master we are concentrated on doing the work of the One and following after their teaching and teaching it to others.

SO again, if I have not lost you yet (haha), WE can not do two things at once. WE can not serve the world (Satan) and serve God.

“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.” Matthew 6:24

“So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.” Revelation 3:16

So can we effectively do both? According to scripture..NO!! According to science(in a round about study) NO!!

When we serve God, we put all our efforts and all our concentration(or we should) on doing what Jesus teaches, listening to Him, being used by Him etc. When we have one foot in the world(satisfying our flesh) and one foot in following Christ, we are damaging not only our walk with God, but our testimony as well. We not only will be confused but will confuse others.

We confuse ourselves

It is like this: a little bit of yeast will ruin the whole batch.(1 Corinthians 5:6-7)

A little bit of sin will damage our whole testimony and if we continue in it it will lead us to destruction.

“27Add iniquity to their iniquity, And may they not come into Your righteousness. 28May they be blotted out of the book of life And may they not be recorded with the righteous. 29But I am afflicted and in pain; May Your salvation, O God, set me securely on high.” Psalm 69:28

Then there is this…

“He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels” Revelation 3:5

Now here, Revelation is saying “HE who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments” meaning: when we have accepted the work on the cross and no longer continue in our sin. Sure, we will stumble and fall, but if we continue in our sin it will take us further and further from the Lord. Then one day, we no longer want to follow Christ and we reject what he has done for us.

Final thought

As Christians, we can not multitask when it comes to serving the Lord. Do not let Satan tempt you by the flashy things of the world. Ways we can avoid falling into lukewarmness:

  1. Prayer- Speaking to God daily. Constant communication with our Lord and Savior will satisfy. He fulfills every desire.
  2. Bible- Spend time in the scriptures. Study it. This is another way of communication with God.
  3. Fellowship- Spending time with people of like mind will help you satisfy that need for human interaction. Also, this will help you be accountable for your actions. Hang out with believers…Who says Christians can not have fun?
  4. Go out- Allow the  Lord to use you. Be willing. There is complete satisfaction when you are about the Fathers business. Also accountability there too.
