Our world is in turmoil.

Murders are happening every moment of the day. The media displays the bodies of the deceased across the screen for all to see. Nations are “rattling their swords”. The thoughts of war seems imminent. A “world war” some say. Then there is racism,. This nation alone seems to be struggling with this issue everyday. Officers being shot. People being treated unfairly. Then their is disease, famines, and even plagues. Evil is considered good and the things that were once good are no longer good. With all this on our minds and to add in the stress of daily living. Family problems, Work issues, financial stress. It would seem we are alone. No wonder many feel it is hopeless and turn to things that are less fulfilling. Anything that will get their mind of the drama of…LIFE. And some…sadly….choose to just end the misery, by ending their life.

Living as a christian in this world should not be hopeless.

I think we get so wrapped up on our problems that we forget who is in-control. God didn’t just create us then let us go. NO! In fact he says he will “never leave you”

“I am with you always, to the end of the age” Matthew 28:20

“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God

who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

We are not alone. So why do we get overwhelmed and immediately think there is no hope? The first things that one does when they get depressed and overwhelmed is they think no one knows what they are going through. Friend, we all know. We have all been there.

Solomon(the wisest man to ever live) said, “There is nothing new under the sun” Meaning, its all been done before, its all been felt before, and yet, life goes on.

People get through it. How? Rejoicing! Praising! Fixing our eyes on the Lord.

One thing Satan hates…a joyful christian. Why do you suppose? Because a joyful Christian gives honor and glory to God. A joyful christian goes out and does things for the Lord. A joyful Christian is contagious! Yep, we spread the joy.

Ever been in a crowd where everyone is cheering? It is very difficult to stay sitting when all those around you are jumping and shouting. Maybe you are a quiet person. But the more you are around those that are on fire for God or are praising …you will do the same as well. You cant help it. It rubs off. Either because you don’t want to be left behind in the excitement or because you start to crave what they crave. So you dig deeper into your relationship with God. It is a fire the burns in your bones. You can not contain it. Like a wild fire it spreads so all can see.

Rejoicing and praising lifts your spirit. Why? Because you are no longer looking at your problems. You are no longer looking inward. You are looking upward. Seeking the One who can solve your problems.

A thought:

Lets quickly look at Jobs life. He lost everything. I mean everything!(why he lost it is for another blog) Yet, despite Job losing everything: his lively hood, his health, his family etc. … He still worshiped the Lord.

“Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. 21 And he said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”

22 In all this Job did not sin or charge God with wrong.”

Job 1:20-22

Through it all Job talked to God. Did he get upset? Sure he did. But he never stopped seeking God through it all.

Do not give up.

What would happen if in our despair, in our pain, in our heartache, in our trials, in our crazy world…we worshiped the Lord?

God loves you so much. He hasn’t abandoned you. He is waiting for you to call out His name. To seek Him through the storm.
